A warm welcome to Professor Michael S. Waterman’s group, who join the Centre

We are pleased to announce that Michael Waterman, Fengzhu Sun and Christian Reidys are joining the Centre for Computational Systems Biology, Fudan University, as Distinguished Professors. The bioinformatics team, headed by Professor Waterman, is an international interdisciplinary research team of world-wide repute. This new team will contribute to the profile and influence of computational systems biomedicine at Fudan University.

 

Brief Introduction of team members:
Professor Michael Waterman

Michael Waterman, team leader, was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 1995, to the National Academy of Sciences in 2001, to the French Académie des Sciences in 2005, to the National Academy of Engineering in 2012, and to the Chinese Academy of Sciences, as a Foreign Member in 2013. Previously, he held the position as Chair Professor at Tsinghua University in Beijing, in addition to his USC appointment. In 2013, he was awarded the Chinese Government’s Certificate of Friendship. Professor Fengzhu Sun
Fengzhu Sun is a Professor of Molecular and Computational Biology in the Department of Biological Sciences of the University of Southern California. In 2012, he was made a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). The AAAS is the world's largest and most prestigious general scientific society, and is the publisher of the well-known scientific journal Science. Professor Christian Reidys
Christian Reidys is a Professor of the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of Southern Denmark. His research interests include discrete mathematics, computational biology, and the molecular evolution, structure, prediction and evolution of RNA.
